RMKU9MC 2019 Individual assignment: Practical implications of the research undertaken in the group assessment

The individual assessment asks you to take the findings of your group research and prepare a piece of work considering the implications – opportunities and threats – of this new knowledge for the retailer of your choice. The aim of this assessment is two-fold: • It asks you to consider the practical implications of the research undertaken in the group assessment. This may mean considering not just the financial or operational issues but also whether the findings can be applied to a different retail sector or even in a different country.

• It allows you to showcase your knowledge, skills, or interests, which may not have been brought to the fore in the group assessment.

YOUR TASK: On an individual basis you should: • identify a retail company or organisation which operates within the same of domain of interest identified by your group; • apply the findings of the group research project to that company, including areas where the company might improve its activities and how it interacts with the relevant customer group; • submit a written report that covers all of these points.

Whilst you may want to introduce new theoretical concepts relating to your chosen retailer, you DO NOT need to repeat or restate the literature and concepts presented in your group report. Those can be taken as given for this assignment; your task is to show how they might affect business practices in ‘real life’. This is an individual assignment which will count for 40% of your overall grade. Word count: 1,500 (excluding cover page, bibliography and appendices) Please ensure that your student registration number and module code are stated on every page of your assignment (either in the header or footer). An assignment cover sheet should be completed and attached to the front of your assignment. Cover sheets will be available via the module Canvas site. It is the individual responsibility of each student to ensure that their submitted work is free from plagiarism and due acknowledgement is given to all sources.
