Research poster with 2000 words
For this element of the dissertation you need to present a poster outlining your research proposal.
This will meet the following Learning Outcomes
a) Understand the different methodological approaches to research.
b) Devise a systematic and viable methodology and plan for management research.
The equivalent word count is 2000 words
For this assessment you will be required to:
a) Draw up a poster covering all the required elements
b) Present the poster, and talk through your research proposal
c) Answer questions put to you by the course tutor/moderator
At the end of the presentation you will be assessed as PASS or FAIL. If you pass, you will then progress on the dissertation element, under the supervision of an allocated supervisor. If you fail, you will be allowed another submission.
The required elements of the poster will include:
a) Project title
b) Project context, indicating the importance/relevance of the research
c) Aims and Objectives
d) Key themes, issues and contemporary research around the topic area
e) Methodology, including
a. Philosophical position
b. Research strategy, including specific method, sample and context
c. Data collection and analysis
f) Limitations of research
g) Timescales
h) References
The required elements of the presentation will be:
a) To present the poster, and to explain and expand upon the content in order to set out clearly the research project
b) In answer to questions asked to be able to talk more widely about the various elements of the proposal, including
a. Expanding upon the context, and the importance of the research being proposed
b. Discussing and evaluating the current themes, issues and current research into the topic area
c. Explaining more fully the nature of research philosophy, and the chosen stance for the project
d. Discussing the range of research options available, and to justify the particular approach has been taken
e. Explain in in detail the practicalities of data collection
f. Discuss any ethical issues or limitation that might apply to the research project
