Overview: The Assessment for this module is based around a project for a local social
enterprise organisation that you will work on as a group during the second semester.
There are two pieces of coursework, which each have two parts:
1 Group poster presentation and report
a) A group presentation (30 minutes) of the project proposal, with an academic poster (30%)
b) A group report (3000 words) about how you carried out the work on the proposal (30%)
2 Individual reflection
a) An individual reflection (1000 words) about learning and engagement in this module
(40%)
Submission: online via Turnitin on Blackboard (Bb), using MS Word document
Grades bands: only permitted Grade Band grades will be used (see Bb)
Research: use at least 10 academic sources for each paper (see RLO on
Bb)
Referencing: LBS Guide to Harvard (see Bb and MIP)
Assessment criteria: QAA matrix (see Bb and MIP) and see below
Module grade: weighted average of the two coursework marks
Pass criteria: attempted all assessments with average mark of 40% or more
Extensions and ECs: student must apply on line before the submission date (see Bb)
Late submission: work submitted up to 5 working days late will be capped at 40%
work submitted more than 5 days late will be given 0% (see MIP)
Unfair means: students found to have used ‘unfair means’ such as collusion and
plagiarism will have a penalty recorded and their grade capped
Presentation: Font Arial; size 12; 1.5-line space; text justified on the left/right

Coursework 1 – Group project (60% weighting)
You will work on a project for a local social enterprise organisation and then complete:
a) A 30-minute presentation of the project, with an academic poster (30%)
DEADLINE: 23:59 on Friday 27th March 2020
Presentations will take place between 13:00 – 17:00 on Monday 30th March or
Tuesday 31st March 2020
Instructions: In your team prepare a 20-30 minute client presentation using an academic
poster, including the following areas and any others that you feel are appropriate:
Brief background of the organisation and your overall assessment of the issues you
were asked to look at. (SROI)
Comparative analysis of the options that you considered as possible solutions.
Evaluation and justification of the overall solution that you have decided on.
Explanation of the short, medium and long term management plans and objectives
including, where appropriate:
o Organisation type e.g. charity, CIC, non-profit etc
o HRM areas such as staffing, structure, training, pay, culture etc
o financial projection of investment, funding, operating costs and revenues etc
o the customer, competitor and complimentor environment
o marketing and advertising
o ethics and social outcomes
(You must include relevant theory from the module in each of these areas)
Overall conclusion and recommendations for future development of the project.

b) A 3000-word client-focussed report (30%)
DEADLINE: 23:59 on Monday 20th April 2020
Instructions:
This report will be sent to the client as well as being marked. The report should therefore
focus on answering the project issues set out in the terms of reference document produced at
the beginning of the project and agreed by the client and including the recommendations for
future development of the project.
So for this assessment the team will be expected to:
Investigate and analyse relevant information
Communicate appropriately with client and tutor to gain information and provide
updates
Identify assumptions, unknowns, possible issues/barriers etc
Collate information and develop relevant solutions, conclusions and recommendations
Respond to feedback from Client and Tutor

Deliver report to Client and submit to Tutor
Use a report format with contents, clear sections and professional presentation.
Coursework 2 – Individual portfolio and reflection (40% weighting)
DEADLINE: 23:59 on Wednesday 29th April 2020
a) A 1,000-word reflection about your learning and engagement in this module (40%)
Working individually, write an academic report, using an established model of reflection that
critically analyses your experience in:
i. Contributing to the team project, presentation and report;
ii. Reflected on these project experiences.
iii. The conclusions that you have come to about yourself and Social Enterprise;
iv. The objective(s) that you have set yourself as a result of this.
