Identify an issue that – in your opinion – is not being taken seriously. Your task is to persuade lawmakers (mayors, members of Congress, Senators, Governors, the President, etc) to take the threat seriously. These are serious people (in some cases, smart people) and they don’t want to pay attention to your issue. You must convince them – using evidence – that your issue is the greatest threat facing America today. Some examples are:

· Prescription drug addiction

· Attacks on freedom of speech on Campus

· Minimum wage laws

· Automation

· Police violence

· Climate change

· Immigration

Note these are just examples: you can choose anything you want.

Step 1 – Choose a threat

Step 2 – present a logical, research-based case that explains why your threat is the most pressing issue facing America. You should present evidence that proves your point. You may also want to recommend a course of action or solution to the problem.
